Charles Ira Clouse 1907 - 2004
Charles
Ira Clouse, 97, passed away Wednesday, October 7, 2004 in Mesa. Charles
was born in Franklin, Arizona, on May 26, 1907. He grew up in Virden, New Mexico
where he met Mary Cardon. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on Sept. 22,
1926. Charles served in the Southern States Mission of the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter Day Saints for 27 months. Upon his return from this mission, he
and Mary lived in Safford, Globe and finally settled in Mesa. They built their
home in 1934 and resided in this home until her death in 2003. Charles
continued to live there until his death. He worked at various jobs for Maricopa
County and was a foreman supervising the construction project for the county
roads, including the paving of Bush Highway to Saguaro Lake. Charles served in
various leadership positions in the church, including the bishopric and Stake
High Council. He also served for many years as an ordinance worker and a sealer
in the Arizona Temple. Charles and Mary also served a mission in Pennsylvania
from 1974 to 1975. He was preceded in death by Mary, his wife of 76 years. He is
survived by daughters, Sharlimae Todd, Mary Laraine Sutton (Tom); sons, Robert
E. (Colene), Dale C. (Dorothy), Charles Larry (Joyce); thirty-six grandchildren;
ninety-five great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Visitation
will be held Tuesday, October 12, 2004 from 6-8:00 PM, Bunker's Garden Chapel,
33 N. Centennial Way, Mesa, also one hour prior to the services at the church.
Services will be held Wednesday, October 13, 2004 at 10:00 AM, Center View Ward,
15 E. 1st Ave., Mesa.
