CLARINDA M. GREEN
Clarinda Merrill Green, 106-
year-old Burley resident died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004.
She was born Aug. 3, 1898, in
Richmond, Utah, the daughter of William and Lucy Cardon
Merrill. She was the fifth of nine children. She
received her education in Richmond and attended Brigham
Young University.
She married Davis Green in the Logan Temple in 1924, and
moved to Paul where they farmed. Her husband preceded
her in death in 1967, and in 1977, she moved to Burley
next to her daughter.
Clarinda was an active member of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints and a member of the
Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She was active in the
Relief Society and had served in both ward and stake
positions. She enjoyed quilting and crocheting. She
also enjoyed canning for her family. She loved the
nineteen winters she spent in Mesa, Arizona. Two of
those years she spent as a part time receptionist in the
visitor's center on the temple grounds.
Survivors include her children, Derald (Marie) Green,
Verl (Marjorie) Green, and Lucy Jensen, all of Burley,
and a daughter-in-law, Joann Jackson of Centerville,
Utah; twenty-five grandchildren; eighty-eight great
grandchildren; and twenty-two great great
grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was
preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Davis
Merrill Green and Averill Merrill Green; four brothers,
Paul, Jack, Keith, and Ariel; four sisters, Kathleen,
Eleise, Beryl, and Leah.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec.
27, 2004, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day
Saints Burley West Stake Center, 2420 Parke Avenue, with
Bishop 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral on
Monday. Arrangements are under the direction of Payne
Mortuary in Burley.
