Eugene Johnson

1923 — 2007
Eugene Johnson passed away peacefully and returned to his Heavenly Father and
his eternal companion and best friend Freya Christensen Johnson on May 1, 2007.
He was born Sept.2, 1923, to John Henry (Jack) Johnson and Flo-rence Irene Smith
in Hinckley, Utah. Freya and Gene were married Nov. 28, 1942, which was
solemnized Nov. 14, 1952, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They had a wonderful
marriage and were very proud of their three sons, Joe, Tom and Glen.
Dad was a gentle giant with hands that would help any in need. He touched many
lives with his kindness and thoughtfulness, always putting others in front of
his own needs. He loved to hunt with his sons, his father and his two older
brothers, Jay and Maurice. He had a great appreciation and love for the
mountains, the trees and camping. He loved to work in the yard, prune the trees
in his orchard, take care of his garden, plant flowers, mow and care for the
lawn and then sit down and watch Mom feed the birds. He out-worked all of us
throughout his life. He was a great example of steadiness with a willingness to
sacrifice so that he could take care of and provide for his family. We were
never without. He taught us not by sermons but by his great example.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and two brothers, and many other
family members.
He is survived by his sons: Joe L. Johnson (LaVon), Bountiful; Tom E. Johnson
(Sherry), Bountiful; and Glen L. Johnson (Konee), Kays-ville; 17 grandchildren
and 32 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the Orchard
3rd Ward Chapel, 265 East Center Street, North Salt Lake. There will be a
viewing Friday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary,
295 North Main and Saturday morning from 9:45 - 10:45 a.m. at the church prior
to services. Interment, Bountiful City Cemetery.
Online guest book at www.russonmortuary.com.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Heritage Place,
the Transitional Care Unit and Hospice at Lakeview Hospital.
