ROBERT CLOUSERobert (Bob) Elwood Clouse 1932 - 2011
Bob passed away May 27, 2011 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the age of 78 after
fighting a courageous battle with cancer. Bob was born in Chandler, Arizona
to Charles Ira and Mary Cardon
Clouse
on June 13, 1932. He married Colene Bench on April 2, 1958 in the
Salt Lake City Temple. Bob was raised in Mesa, Arizona, where he obtained
his Eagle Scout, graduated from Mesa High School in 1950 and went on to
attend Arizona State University. He then served in the US Army before
returning to serve an LDS mission to the Eastern States Mission. He later
graduated from Utah State University in 1961 with a Masters Degree. Bob
retired in 1998 after working for the LDS Church as a Computer Programmer
and Systems Analyst. He had also worked at Smith Management, TMS, and IML.
Bob was a member of the LDS Church. He was a faithful and devoted member
holding various callings most recently serving as Stake Clerk. Bob enjoyed
camping, traveling, cooking and being with his grandchildren. He will long
be remembered for the special attention he gave to his yard and garden,
keeping family and friends stocked with fresh vegetables and grape juice all
summer long. Bob was active in the community serving as a coach and league
president for youth sports. Soft spoken and a man of few words, the support,
strength and service he gave to family and friends will greatly be missed.
He is survived by his wife Colene, son David
Clouse,
daughter Shirley (Jim) Slaugh, grandkids Brenda Kay and Jacob Lynn Slaugh.
He is also survived by sisters, Lorraine (Tom) Sutton, Sharlimae Todd and
brothers, Dale (Dorothy)
Clouse and
Larry (Gladys) Clouse,
along with many beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was
preceded in death by daughter Brenda Lee
Clouse and his
parents. A viewing will be held Wednesday 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Funeral
Chapel, 4760 S State Street. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 2,
2011, 11:00 a.m. at the Winder West 4th Ward, 951 E. 3825 S. with a viewing
10:00 -10:45 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Elysian Burial Gardens. In
lieu of flowers the family requests that you take a moment to hold your
loved ones close and make a donation to your favorite charity. Online
