Ted Martin Lightheart
SPRINGFIELD - The funeral will be Jan. 6 for Ted Martin Lightheart of
Springfield who died Jan. 1 of a heart attack. He was 65.
He was born Feb. 9, 1938, in Camas, Wash., to Henry and Lorene Davis Lightheart.
He finished high school in Washougal, Wash., and then attended Western Business
College and the University of Oregon. He married Shirley Cardon in Idaho Falls,
Idaho, on June 6, 1960. They moved to the Springfield area in 1966.
He served in the U.S. Navy in San Diego, Hawaii and Japan and later worked as a
carpet layer and a computer programmer and analyst.
He enjoyed computers and was a sports fan. He was a member of the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Third Ward, and the Eugene Gleemen.
He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Teresa Young, of Riverton, Vt., and
Trina Tobar and Tara Lightheart, both of Springfield; five sons, Kevin of
Canton, Miss., Kenneth of Travis Air Force Base, Calif., Keith Lightheart of
Springfield, Kurtis of New Albany, Ind., and Kyle of Eugene; a sister, Patty
Nelson, of Vancouver, Wash.; and 22 grand- children.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday at Springfield Memorial Gardens
& Funeral Home, and at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints, Third Ward. Tuesday's funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the
church. Burial will be at Springfield Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions can be made to the church's Humanitarian Aid Fund.
