William Afton Cardon 1925-2011
CARDON
William Afton Cardon, Jr., was born in Cuauhtemoc, Chihuahua, Mexico on July 22,
1925 and passed away on November 7, 2011. Bill graduated from Austin High School
and Texas A&M. He joined the Army Air
Corps as a celestial navigator instructor during WWII and
was honorably discharged in 1946. He served as a Bishop of the El Paso Fourth
Ward in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bill was a Real Estate
Broker for over 60 years, with Cardon Real Estate. His passion was designing and
building homes. Bill was married to Guin Stowell, and 6 children were born of
that marriage: Yvonne Cardon, Sharon Cardon, Annette Frehling, Suzanne Cardon,
Diana Broussard, and William A. Cardon, III. Bill increased his family by two
with his second marriage to Marjorie Martin: Dr. Joe E. Martin and Deborah
Martin. Then they had two more children: Dawn Terrill and Shon Benjamin Cardon.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Cardon, Sr. and Hettie T.
Cardon; two brothers: Donald C. Cardon and Hugh F, Cardon; two grandchildren:
Brannon Rasberry and Jonah Adam Terrill. He is survived by his youngest brother,
Thomas D. Cardon, Sr., 19 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Visitation
will be from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Hillcrest
Funeral Home-Carolina. Funeral Service at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 14, 2011
at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1212 Sumac Dr. Rite of
Committal will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery with Military Honors.
